96. Why Investing in Yourself First Breeds Confidence Later: Aviva Black

Before Aviva Black launched her current venture, she was a history teacher, vice Principal, non-profit director, and yoga teacher. The throughline in all her work has been story-telling, so it was no surprise when she decided to launch Family Love Letters in 2018. Aviva works one-on-one with individuals and families today, documenting and sharing their cherished memories. She also presents to groups nationwide, discussing the importance of telling and preserving our stories.

In this episode, Nada sits down with Aviva to hear how a found letter from her father changed her trajectory and how a partnership and passion project turned into a solo business. She generously lets us into the hardships of partnering, offering great advice to consider before choosing a partner. She also shares how she launched with the help of a business coach and an investment in herself and urges us to start now–from wherever we are. Just start!

Check out the Family Love Letters website. You can find more about Monica Shah’s business coaching at the Revenue Breakthrough website. The books that Aviva is currently reading are Who Not How by Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan and Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. Follow on Instagram: @avivayblack.
